A strap tensioner consisting of two control components (21; 28, 35) for relative movement that can be moved relative to each other against the spring action under the influence of the force to be indicated. On the one component (28, 35) there is a signal device (37A) that can be moved between a retracted and a projected position. The is controlled or non-rigidly loaded to remain within the retracted position for a load force below a preset value.
