<p>Lacquer (or plastics materials) is transferred to the surface of metal strip by means of rolls dipping into a trough contg. lacquer. One roll revolves close to a fixed concave section piece, to pick up a uniform layer of lacquer on its surface. This layer, which is further reduced as it passes between the two rolls, is then transferred to the metal band which impinges on the roll in passing round a roller that rotates in the opposite direction. By keeping the level in the trough sufficiently high, no air is entrained to form bubbles in the lacquer layer. The depth of lacquer can be varied by the speed of rotation of rolls and gap between them.</p> |
