Prepn. of modified allergens

The two-stage process consists of combining an aldehyde and an allergenic extract with concn. 1-0.01 M in phosphate buffer medium at pH 7.5, and reacting for 6 hours to 30 days at 25-32 deg. C. The allergenic cpd. formed is activated with cyanogen bromide and reacted with a polysaccharide for 12-24 hours at 18-25 deg. C, in volume ratio 1:5. The activated acid gps. of the polysaccharide react with the basic amino and hydroxy gps. of the protein, forming a series of allergen-aldehyde-polysaccharide complexes whose molecule can be represented by a closed net. - They are of use for their allergenic properties and proteic character.
