PURPOSE:To simultaneously illuminate both forward and turning directions during the turning period of a car by detecting both the turning direction and turning angle of the rotary shaft of a steering wheel together with turning one of a pair of headlights toward the turning direction by the angle equivalent to the turning angle of the cat. CONSTITUTION:When a car driver turns a steering wheel to the left by angle thetaA for lefthand turning, a contact piece 22 also turns to the left by the angle thetaA to be situated between positions P0 and P1. When voltage given by an angle sensor 20 is assumed to be VA, a control equipment 30 gives a pulse signal, which is equivalent to variation V1-VA from standard voltage V1, to the left stepping motor MA. Then, a driving shaft 10A rotates counterclockwise by the predetermined angle, giving tension to a cable 7A. Accordingly, the left-hand headlight 4A rotates counterclockwise by the angle equivalent to the angle of rotation of the driving shaft 10A. When the car driver begins to put the steering wheel back to the neutral position after the car has begun its turning and turned by a certain amount, the variation varies and the left- hand headlight 4A returns to the original direction. In addition, when the steering wheet restores its neutral position at the completion of the turning of the car, the left-hand headlight 4A also restores its straight-forward posture. Thus, the angle of illumination during the turning period of a car can be enlarged. |
