The incineration furnace (A) is designed as a standing single-pass boiler. Its wall is formed by a cylindrical serpentine pipe (RS) which is coiled winding on winding and at the bottom ends conically and through which a heat-transfer medium which remains liquid circulates. For regulating the inner wall temperature of the furnace to a given range of e.g. 260 DEG C to 300 DEG C, a regulating device (TC1, dTC3) is provided. This controls, according to the forward-run and the return-run temperature (TVL, TRL) of the heat-transfer medium, on the one hand the fuel-oil supply (H) to the burner (BR) and on the other hand the output delivered to the heat consumers (D3, D4); the latter in such a manner that the return-run temperature (TRL) does not fall below a given value. Application in particular for incinerating concentrated chlorine-containing and bromine-containing industrial effluents. <IMAGE>
