<p>PURPOSE:To enable the highly-accurate and successive measurement of an angle formed between the surface of water and a cable being laid therein, by measuring quantitatively the component force of a tensile strength and a load applied to the cable to be laid. CONSTITUTION:On a cable layer 3, a cable 5 is paid away into the sea to be laid through a cable brake 7 and a turn sheave 8. An electric tension meter 11 measures the tensile strength of the cable 5 which is laid while braked by the cable brake 7. Next, an electric load meter 12 measures the horizontal and vertical component forces of the turn sheave 8 which is subjected to the load of the cable 5. A data analysis processor 13 receives an input from the electric tension meter 11 and inputs of the horizontal and vertical component forces from the electric load meter 12 and calculates therefrom an angle theta formed between the surface of water and the cable being laid therein.</p> |
