PURPOSE:To determine the driving power required for a grinding wheel as well as to secure the required peripheral velocity of the grinding wheel, by calculating a wheel diameter in measuring the amount of displacement in the grinding wheel by a displacement detector which contacts a weight at one end of a rocking arm of the disklike grindstone contacting a pipe from its underside. CONSTITUTION:A weight 5 is constituted of a fixed weight 16 locked to a rocking arm 4, a first pendant weight 17 slung from the weight 16 and a second weight 18, and this weight 18 is pushed upward from the lower part and contacted with a weight 17. On the other hand, a ball screw jack 19 forming a displacement detector 8 is driven by a motor 20, detecting a turning angle of the motor 20 with a rotary encoder 21, and the amount of displacement in the grinding wheel 3 is detected, and further a wheel diameter is calculated on the basis of displacement in the grinding wheel 3 and a caliber value of a pipe 2 whereby a driving power signal for revolution control to a motor 24 is determined so as to cause the peripheral velocity of the grinding wheel 3 to become the specified value. |
