The reinforcing mat comprises two lots of parallel bars (10, 11) which intersect at right angles and are rigidly connected to one another at the points of intersection. On the edge parts, the distance between two bars (11) of the load-bearing reinforcement is double that in the rest of the area of the mat, and, in the centre of the mat, the distance between two bars (10) of the distributing reinforcement is double that between the rest of the bars. Reinforcing mats of this type are used for reinforcing in a supporting manner, with the result that joints are to be formed in only one direction. With the doubled distance on the edge part, sufficient joint overlapping of the distributing reinforcement can be obtained; the bars of the load-bearing reinforcement are, however, arranged such that they are distributed uniformly over the entire surface. By leaving out one bar of the distributing reinforcement in the centre of the mat, these mats can be made such that they can be used for corner reinforcement and as connecting-plate reinforcement, but also for the connection of the reinforcement for false ceilings. <IMAGE>
