This invention relates to an alignment tool for the remotely controlled recalibration of elastic or resilient contact dimples or so-called contact springs, located in the square meshes of the spacer grids of nuclear reactor fuel assemblies. In accordance with a feature of this invention, there are provided template surface formed on the gripper-actuating tube being axially displaceable to engage the gripper jaws to close the gripper, or to extend them to open the gripper. This invention includes an actuating mechanism for the gripper, the extension of this tool for the purpose of remote control within the fuel pit having been omitted.
