In a hydrokinetic machine for converting flow energy into useful energy, components of essentially identical design moving in the same direction along a continuous circular track are provided. The circular track is guided or fixed by at least two deflection rollers, the circular track and/or the components being in power-transmitting engagement with the deflection rollers in the deflection region of the rollers. The components are designed as compact blades of the type found in gas turbine construction and, in operation, supply rotary drive to the deflection rollers when flow energy occurs, it being possible, for example, for a current generator to be coupled to the said rollers.
