PURPOSE:To improve mechanical properties and falling weight impact strength, by blending an inorg. mineral powder treated with an organosilane compd. contg. an ethylenically unsaturated bond and glass fiber with a polyamide. CONSTITUTION:At least 40wt% polyamide, 3-40wt% glass fiber and 5-50wt% inorg. mineral powder treated with an organosilane compd. contg. an ethylenically unsaturated bond are blended together, each quantity being based on that of the resulting compsn. As the polyamide, nylon 66 is preferred because of high toughness and heat resistance. As the inorg. powder, those having an average particle size of 2mu are preferred. Calcined kaolin obtd. by calcining kaolin clay at 350-1,000 deg.C for several hr and crushing it into a powder having an average particle size of 2mu or below, is particularly preferred. This reinforced polyamide resin compsn. is suitable for use in preparing automobile parts which require high reliability of plastic materials. |
