PURPOSE:To improve the precision of the detection of flatness by oscillating a rolling material and detecting displacement oscillation, calculating the resonance frequency, stress, and stress deviation at each breadthwise point, and detecting the flatness of the rolling material from a distribution of stress deviation. CONSTITUTION:Signals of frequencies a half as high as frequencies f1 and f2 correlative to the resonance frequency of the rolling material 1 are generated by an oscillator 30. Those signals are sent to an exciting device 5 through a synthesizer 31 and an amplifier 32. The rolling material 1 is oscillated at oscillation frequency f1+f2, and its displacement is detected by displacement detectors 6a-6e. The displacement is sent to a resonance frequency arithmetic circuit 37 through a band-pass filter 38 having the passing frequency f1, rectifier 35, integral filter 36, band-pass filter 34 having the passing frequency f2, rectifier 39, and integral filter 40. A steepness arithmetic circuit 46 calculates stress and stress deviation on the basis of resonance frequencies at respective breadthwise points to calculate the steepness at each point. |
