PURPOSE:To obtain a thick continuous foamed body of vulcanized ethylene propylene nonconjugate diene ternary copolymer (EPDM) excellent in heat resistance, compression permanent resistance by a method wherein vulcanization reaction and expansion phenomenon of expandable, vulcanizable component of ethylene propylene nonconjugate diene ternary copolymer (EPDM) in a state of zero gelation ratio are made to progress simultaneously and mechanical deformation is given to the obtained foamed body. CONSTITUTION:Expanding agent, vulcanizing agent and vulcanization accelerator and pigment, if necessary, are added to EPDM and kneaded by a heated mixing roll, etc. Then, the obtained expandable, vulcanizable component is put into a mold of desired secton, pressed, kept in a state of zero gelation ratio or heated and shaped for a specified time and at a specified temperature capable of judging that vulcanization is not carried out. The shaped expandable vulcanizable component is heated under the normal pressure, vulcanized and expanded progressively and simultaneously. The obtained foamed body is compressed and deformed by a uniform speed double roll etc. to break foam membranes and connect the inner parts of each foam. |
