PURPOSE:To shorten a wait time and reduce the influence of an interruption greatly by providing plural latent image areas to an image recording medium, and performing interruptive copying operation in parallel by using free latent image areas without interrupting copying operation when there is an interruption. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive drum 7 is provided with latent image formation areas 7-1, 7-2, and 7-3 where three images of A4 size are formed, and three discharge trays 21-23 are also provided. If an interruption for an original C is caused while latent images of originals A and B are formed in the areas 7-1 and 7-2 and copied as specified, the free area 7-3 is specified to form the latent image of the original C. Then, while the copying operation for the originals A and B is carried on without being interrupted, an interruptive copy of the original C is taken in parallel and copy paper is discharged to the tray 23. Consequently, the wait time is shortened even if an interruption is caused, and its influence is reduced greatly. |
