Adhesion between the fastening member and a penetrable member is effected by element 62 penetrating the penetrable member. In other embodiments the central stop 52 may be omitted, the element has barbs only at its ends or the elongated body may comprise only one conical section (Fig. 7, not shown). The elements, which may have pre-stressed hooks 126<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 12, which uncurl to form barbs upon suitable chemical or heat treatment, may be formed by slicing a plastics extrusion. The elements may be mounted on a supporting surface directly or an adhesive layer thereon or projected through the supporting layer, using a jet of air. |
