PURPOSE:To increase high rate discharge performance by filling the paste obtained by adding metallic cadmium powder, a binder, and solvent to an active material mainly comprising cadmium oxide and by kneading them, to an alkali- resistant porous metal substrate having three dimensional structure, and drying and pressing them. CONSTITUTION:The paste obtained by adding metallic cadmium for omitting preliminarily charging, a binder and its solvent to an active material mainly comprising cadmium oxide is filled in an alkali-resistant porous metal substrate having three dimensional structure, and they are dried and pressed. Since formation is omissible by adding metallic cadmium powder to the negative active material, the negative plate is so soft that a continuous conductive matrix is kept without generation of crack in the plate and breakage of the conductive matrix when the substrate is wound to form a plate group. Therefore, high rate discharge performance is increased. |
