Zinc pyridine thione in particulate form wherein a major proportion of the particles each have a maximum diameter of 2.mu.m, and a maximum volume of 3 x 10-17m3 and a minimum surface area of 2m2/g and are in the form of hexagonal flat platelets or fragments thereof, is particularly efficacious in treating superficial disorders including dandruff and may be formulated in conventional presentations.
