PURPOSE:To automatically perform test printing at every definite number of lines, by providing a line counter circuit, a test printing control circuit and a test data generation circuit. CONSTITUTION:In a line printer, when a line counter circuit 1 reaches the predetermined number of lines, a test printing command is applied to a test printing control circuit 2. When printing paper 11 is mounted between the tenth figure and 120-th figure of a printing hammer 10, a paper width detection mechanism applies paper width information to the test printing control circuit 2 which, in turn, orders test printing data to a test data generation circuit 4 so that blank codes are generated in 1-9 figures and 121-132 figures and printing data codes are generated in 10-120 figures. The test data generation circuit 4 generates codes as commanded to send the same to a printing data memory 5 and, when one line data is sent thereto, printing operation is performed. |
