PURPOSE:To increase performance and life of a lead-acid battery without additional special parts by filling the sufficient amount of electrolyte in a container, exposing a part of each anode plate from the surface of electrolyte, and installing a hole from which air flows into the container. CONSTITUTION:The sufficient amount of electrolyte 2 is put in a container 1 of a lead-acid battery so that part of electrolyte is fluid. The height of an anode plate 4 is made higher than that of a cathode plate 3, and the upper part of the anode plate 4 is exposed from the liquid level of the electrolyte 2. A hole is installed in the container 1 to always supply air in the battery. Since the battery has the sufficient amount of electrolyte 2 and large amount of sulfuric acid, the ratio of sulfuric acid which reacts anode active material in the exposed part 6 of the anode plate 4 is small and the effect on power generating reaction is also small. By selecting the area of the exposed part 6, absorption of oxygen gas is readily controlled. |
