PURPOSE:To improve the liquid leakage resistance of a battery and achieve reduction of a dead space by forming a rectangular battery case by unifying insulating plastic members, side conductive-plastic current collectors and a central current collector. CONSTITUTION:A rectangular battery case is formed by subjecting insulating plastic base plates 6, conductive plastic base plates 2 prepared by mixing a filler such as graphite into a material such as polystyrene and a central partition base plate 8 to two-color injection molding or similar method. Next, after a separator 14 is placed in the center of each of the two chambers, a positive active material 10 and a negative active material 12 are alternately packed in the thus formed four chambers. After that, a lid 5 is fused to the thus obtained body by ultrasonic wave, thereby constituting a battery. As a result, there is no special need to lead terminals outside the battery because the base plates 2 can work both as current collectors and as terminals. Consequently, the liquid leakage resistance of the battery is improved and the space necessary for the battery can be reduced owing to its rectangular shape. |
