PURPOSE:To obtain accurate values simply, by measuring distances to the ceiling of a tank by using two pieces of metal tape, which are attached to one end of a float, obtaining the expansion and contraction errors due to temperature based on the difference between both distances, and performing correction. CONSTITUTION:A piece of metal tape 5 is attached to a float 4, and the height of the surface of a liquid is obtained by a length measuring device, which is attached to the ceiling of a tank. Another piece of tape 10, which is attached to the float 4, is returned from a pulley 11 at the ceiling surface once, and further returned by a pulley 12, which is attached to the bottom surface of the storage tank. Then the length is measured by a length measuring device 13, which is provided at the ceiling surface. Rotary encoders are provided in the length measuring device 6 and the length measuring device 13, and transmits the level signals corresponding to the length of the tape. The two level signals are inputted to a measuring instrument 21 comprising a display, an indicator, a computer, and the like, and converted into the value at a normal temperature by correction. |
