PURPOSE:To enable to enhance printing efficiency and printing speed, by a method wherein an operation for performing the subsequent printing immediately after a printing action or an operation for providing a predetermined stand-by period is selected in accordance with the kind of a printing means, in a printer comprising a plurality of printing means. CONSTITUTION:Where a mode signal M is a high-level signal and a non-impact printing mode is designated, a change-over circuit 17 outputs a spacing executing signal BUSY1 as a space busy signal BUSY0, and a master controlling part transfers the subsequent printing data P immediately after the outputting of step pulse signals phi1-phi4 from a step-controlling circuit 13 in response to data P is completed. On the other hand, where the mode signal M is a low-level signal and a printing mode other than the non-impact printing mode is designated, the circuit 17 outputs a signal BUSY2, and a delay circuit 16 so functions that the subsequent printing data P are transferred after a predetermined delay time has elapsed from the moment the outputting of the step pulse signals is completed. Accordingly, the stand-by period between printing actions can be omitted under control depending on the printing mode, and printing efficiency can be enhanced. |
