A circulating pump has been designed for one-way flow irrespective of the direction of rotation of the pump in that the axis of eccentricity of the ring and the rotor is displaced when the drive direction is altered, and that the ring is fixed in a support 14, Figure 1, with freedom of movement in a first direction within the support, whilst the support itself is fixed to a pivot 24 in an outer casing 15, the support being moveable in a second direction within the casing. The effect of normal rotor operation is to maintain the parts in position according to Figure 1 whilst pumping is in progress, but if the drive direction is reversed, a change in pressure causes the ring to be displaced within the support, and thereafter the support to be displaced within the casing, so that the parts essentially present a mirror image of Figure 1 and permit continued pumping in the same direction from inlet to outlet with reversed drive direction. <IMAGE> |
