Amino acid derivatives are prepd. by reacting aliphatic and/or cycloaliphatic diamines of formula (I) directly or in the form of their amides with alpha,beta-unsatd. carbonyl cpds. of formula II. (where R is a divalent aliphatic or cycloaliphatic 4-38C gp. with a branched chain; R' is H, alkyl or aryl; X is HO-alkyl-O-, aryl-O-, H2N-, alkyl-HN-, aryl-HN-, (alkyl)2-N-; (aryl)2-N, or group III). Gives uncrosslinked products in relatively short reaction times. These pdts. are used for crosslinking 1,2-epoxide cpds. The pdts. have a good colour, low viscosity and good solubility and compatibility with the epoxide cpds.
