PURPOSE:To simplify a line printer without needs for excessive type set discriminating mechanism by a method in which timing marks provided to the type feeder are read out to discriminate the types of type sets. CONSTITUTION:Timing marks carved on the surface of a type band 8 are read out in a synchronous signal detector 9 to become synchronous signal B. The signal B is put in a counter timer 4 to send out delay pulse C, and the pulse C is AND-processed to become trigger pulse D. In O2 output of the timer 4, although the output is till ''H'' level when timing marks are continued, inter- polating pulse E is sent out at the position where the marks are omitted. In MPU1, interrupting processing is made by the pulse C or E according to the program or ROM2, and an interpolating control signal F and type set discriminating data L are sent out. The printer can thus be simplified and its reliability can be enhanced without the needs for excessive type set discriminating mechanism. |
