PURPOSE:To accurately perform positioning of a recording paper or the like, by a method wherein a means for indicating a printing position on a recording paper by rays is provided on a carriage which is moved, and printing is conducted by a printing head mounted on the carriage. CONSTITUTION:A light-emitting element 9 is provided on a tip part of the printing head 6 mounted on the carriage 4, namely, at a position faced to a printing surface of the recording paper 3. The element 9 irradiates the recording paper 3 with rays which are focused into spot light indicated by numeral 10 at the center of the printing position. The color of the rays is preferably different from the ground color of the paper 3. Accordingly, since the center of the printing position is indicated directly on the recording paper 3, the operator can confirm an accurate position of the paper 3. |
