PURPOSE:To enhance the rate of fuel consumption while securing the acceleration with good characteristic by setting No.1 reference speed value as function of the car speed and No.2 reference speed value as function of the degree of opening of a throttle, and by fixing the speed change ratio of a continuously variable transmission so as to satisfy the specified requirements. CONSTITUTION:No.1 and No.2 reference speed values Nr1 and Nr2 are set as function of the car speed V and the degree of opening of throttle, respectively, and if either Nr1<=Ne<Ne' or Ne<Nr1 and Ne>=Nr2 (Ne, actual engine speed: Ne', target engine speed), the speed change ratio of a continuously variable transmission (CVT) is fixed. Thereby in case the current drive force is far from its full capacity or in case this margin is small but Ne lies sufficiently near Ne', the speed change ratio e is fixed to ensure that the rate of fuel consumption can be enhanced while acceleration is maintained in good characteristic. Further acceleration is directly linked with the rise of Ne, so that noise is suppressed. |
