PURPOSE:To obtain a shape memory steel with improved workability by adding specified percentages of C, Si, Cr, Ni and Mn to Fe and specifying the relation between the Ni and Mn contents. CONSTITUTION:A steel consisting of, by weight, <=0.1% C, <=1% Si, 10-20% Cr, 2-8.5% Ni, 2-30% Mn and the balance essentially Fe and satisfying equations Ni%+Mn%>=8% and 1.3X(Ni%)+0.3X(Mn%)<=11.7% is prepd. The steel has shape memory characteristics in a wide composition range, so it is very useful in fields of industry. |
