An adjusting and lifting device for the work roll of a stretching-dehydrating machine for the leather industry has a motor for adjusting the linkages of both roll carriers. An additional device to lift the work roll consists of two power cylinders which are arranged in the force transmission path of the linkages and can be moved against the force of a spring.
