The screw-driving machine (S) is connected to an electronic control system. The rotating spindle of the machine incorporates an angle sensor giving a signal (W) counting the number of turns of the screw and a torque meter giving a signal (MD) giving a measure of the resistance to driving of the screw. There is also a control angle sensor giving a separate angle signal (WK). The electronic circuit module (E) contains a VDU (B) and a display unit for machine operating parameters. Screw movement may be plotted against rotational angle and motor current may be plotted against rotational angle, and the screw driving operation may be abandoned if there is a sufficient departure from an optimum or design plot.
