In a centrifugal pump for liquids and comprising seals (8) on the pump impeller (6) and a cooling stream which is guided along these seals (8) and which passes via a filter (20), said filter (20) is provided with a flushable cylindrical screen (21). The flushing flow passes from a guiding device (10), which is disposed downstream in terms of the conveying direction, into the region of the pump impeller discharge, as a result of which a pressure drop of at most half the discharge head can occur. The invention merits particular consideration for coolant pumps in nuclear power stations. <IMAGE>
