An electronic potentiometer has an adjusting stage (6), to which a signal is fed at a signal input (68) and which sets the amplitude of this signal as a function of a (resulting) adjusting voltage, which is fed to an adjusting input (60) of the adjusting stage (6), while keeping its DC level constant and leads away the signal of set amplitude at a signal output (71). With such an electronic potentiometer, the amplitude of a signal can be set over a great modulation range with low signal distortion and low signal delay by at least the two control voltages with little circuitry, by the electronic potentiometer comprising at least one multiplying stage (4) which has two inputs (49, 50), to which an adjusting voltage is fed in each case, and one output (47, 48), from which an adjusting voltage, which is formed by the multiplying stage (4) by a multiplicative operation on the adjusting voltages fed to its inputs (49, 50), and is passed to an input of a following multiplying stage or to the adjusting input (60) of the adjusting stage (6). <IMAGE>
