In a shoe, the base is provided in the region of the shoe heel, starting from an apex line (4), with a sloping (5) which runs backwards at an angle. The sloping begins on the inside of the shoe at the level of the centre of the shoe or further forwards and ends on the outside of the shoe close to the heel end. By virtue of this design of the shoe heel, the shoe has the tendency during walking to tip into a pronation position. This is counteracted by the foot musculature so that the shoe leads to a strengthening of the foot musculature (Figure 1). <IMAGE>
