For a newel staircase of the kind which is made up of distance pieces (6) and staircase elements (4,5), and for which each staircase element (4,5) consists of a tube section (4) with a staircase step (5) attached to it, and the distance pieces (6) and the tube sections (4) are arranged in line and held together by means of tensioning devices, the distance pieces (6) have means for clamping a tube section (4) between themselves in pairs and for permitting an adjustment of the distance between adjacent tube sections (4). In this way there is provided a newel staircase in which the step height and consequently the total height of the staircase is adjustable without using cutting tools and without the employment of a tubular or rod-shaped unit which projects through all of the staircase elements. <IMAGE> |
