The invention relates to a sun canopy 100 which exhibits a lightweight panel 1, 102, which has a basic part 2 on which a multiplicity of triangular, parallel and longitudinally running reflector elements 3 are fastened, between which fluorescent tubes 103 are arranged. The panel also has transversely running rib parts 20 which are fastened at each end of said panel 2 and contain fluorescent-tube holders 22. Two hollow parts 5, 8 are formed integrally with the panel 2 and run along each side and are firmly fastened at each end on the transversely running rib parts 20. The panel 1, 102 is supported at each end by frames 110, each of which comprises a pair of tubular parts 111, 112, which are connected to each other by means of essentially straight parts 113, 114, in order to form parts which are in engagement with a supporting surface, and exhibit parallel parts 115, 116 between which the panel 102 is fastened. The parts 117, 118 of the legs between the ends 113, 114 and parallel parts 115, 116 are bent inwards at an angle with respect to the horizontal in order to form a supporting surface which allows the panel to be supported at an angle with respect to the horizontal. The fluorescent-tube ballasts and the timing device are arranged in a portable unit 104 which is at a distance from the canopy 100 and is connected thereto by means of a suitable electrical cable 106. <IMAGE>
