A package secured against unauthorised handling consists of a container with a neck and an annular radial flange below the neck and of a plastic closure in releasable mutual engagement with the neck. The closure has a covering wall and a circumferential edge. The edge is in mutual engagement with a plastic theft-proof strip in such a way that, when the closure is mounted on the container, the strip is bent over the annular flange on the neck of the container and comes into engagement below it and, on subsequent removal of the closure from the container, the strip is prevented from being removed from the container and, as a result, is detached from the closure. In a modified embodiment, the plastic theft-proof strip has a moulded-on lining which is separated from the strip when the strip and the closure are fitted together and comes into interaction with the covering wall of the closure. <IMAGE>
