In a refuse vehicle with a collection container (1) which is driven in a rotary fashion and can be closed by means of an upwardly pivotable rear flap (2), the latter supporting a rotationally fixed pressure cylinder (3) which projects into the collection container (1), a charging channel (4) leads from the outside of the rear flap (2) to the floor of the collection container (1). A series of loading scoops (5) is distributed over the inside circumference of the collection container (1) in the region of its opening, two worm threads (6, 7) of an unloading worm adjoining them. To load and unload known collection containers, their direction of rotation must be reversed, which necessitates a rotary drive (10) in the shape of an expensive reversible hydraulic motor with regulating devices. Operation and control are to be simplified in a refuse vehicle of this type. As a result of the fact that, in the container (1) which is rotated to the right as seen in the direction of loading, the loading scoops (5) have a positive angle of inclination in relation to the container circumferences (9) in the direction of a left-hand screw and the threads of the unloading worms have a negative angle of inclination in relation to the container circumferences (9) in the direction of a right-hand screw, the collection container (1) can always be driven in the same direction of rotation for loading and unloading, the rear flap (2) being closed during loading and open during unloading. The expense of reversal is avoided and switching errors are rendered impossible. <IMAGE>
