A refrigerator includes a freezing chamber (5), a storage chamber (4) , and a forced air circulating path (10,12) provided with an air inlet (13), an evaporator (14) having a defrosting heater (15), an air outlet (11), a convection fan (16), a damper plate (21), and a damper plate driving means (25). The damper plate driving means includes a shape memory alloy member (29) for driving the damper plate to the opened position at the closing time of the freezing chamber and to the closed position when frost adhering to the surface of the evaporator is removed. A temp. control circuit (38) controls the damper plate driving means in cooperation with a temp. sensor (28) disposed near the shape memory alloy member. |
