Synchromesh for a gear transmission, particularly that of a motor vehicle, comprises a cone ring (5) floatingly arranged between a floatingly arranged synchronising ring (1) with an internal conical friction surface and a synchronising cone (2) with an external conical friction surface, the cone (2) being associated with a gear wheel (4). The cone ring (5) can be of a cheap material which has good emergency running properties and a good coefficient of frictional, for example a non-ferrous metal.
