PURPOSE:To simplify constitution and improve reliability by scanning a matrix consisting two columns of electrodes with out-of-phase pulses and detecting the display position of a hand, and using driving pulses of a motor as the scanning pulses. CONSTITUTION:A motor is driven with the driving pulses from a driving circuit DR to step-advance the hand. For example, when the hour hand indicates one o'clock, contacts a1 and a2 of a contact piece A contact electrodes ES1 and EC1 to conduct terminals S1 and G1, and a pulse from a terminal (a) is supplied to an output circuit EN1 through buffers F1 and F4 to generates a code output indicating one o'clock by the output circuit EN1 by using said pulse and a pulse from the buffer F1. Similarly, the contact piece A rotates to make connections between outside electrodes ES1-ES4, and inside electrodes EC1-EC3, and contacts of the matrix are made successively, so that the output circuit EN1 generates code outputs corresponding to 2-12 o'clock successively. Then, time casting is performed corresponding to the display time on the basis of said code outputs. |
