PURPOSE:To provide a thermal recording material having a high thermal response characteristics and suitable for high-speed recording, wherein a specified compound such as a hydrogenated derivative of an alkylanthracene or phenanthrene is incorporated in a thermal color forming layer as a color forming accelerator. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal recording material wherein a thermal color forming layer comprising a leuco dye colorless or light-colored at normal temperature (e.g., crystal violet lactone) and an organic acidic substance for developing the color of the leuco dye by reacting with the dye when being heated (e.g., bisphenol A) is provided on a base, at least one compound selected from the group consisting of an alkylanthracene, an alkylphenanthrene, a hydrogenated derivative thereof, hydrogenated anthracene and hydrogenated phenanthrene (e.g., 1,2,3, 4,5,6,7,8-octahydroanthracene) is incorporated in the color forming layer as a color forming accelerator, preferably in an amount of 1-10pts.wt. per 1pt.wt. of the leuco dye. |
