Novel thioether compounds are disclosed which are useful as flavoring materials to enhance or impart meat-like flavors to foodstuffs. These compounds have the general formula <IMAGE> where X can be, under specified conditions, -CH2-, oxygen, or sulfur, Y can be oxygen or sulfur and R1, R2, R3, and R4 are hydrogen or 1 to 3 carbon alkyl groups. |
