PURPOSE:To prevent falling off of active material from the cut surface by pressing fibers of sheets which are arranged on the both sides of a plate to prevent falling off of active material, on the cut surface of the plate when it is cut. CONSTITUTION:A continuous expanded sheet comprising lead or lead alloy is filled with active material paste. Protective sheets 3 comprising paper or synthetic fiber nonwoven fabric are sticked on the both sides of the paste filled sheet. When this plate is press-cut to continuously form unit plates with a rotary cutter, the angle of a press blade 4 forms a slant of cut surface in the plate 5. Therefore, fibers 6 of the protective sheet 3 are pressed on the cut surface of the plate so that they are stretched in a direction 7 which the press blade 4 is pressed. Thereby, active material supporting ability in this portion is increased and the cut surface of the plate is protected. |
