PURPOSE:To provide a titled additive which improves vitrifying power by consisting of a mold additive for continuous casting of steel of powder having a specific weight ratio and specific basicity and consisting further said additive of a mixture composed of pulverous powder at a specific rate thereby decreasing the softening point and solidifying point without abrupt change in viscosity. CONSTITUTION:A mold additive prepd. by adding about 2-5% pulverous carbon material having about <=44mu to <=0.1mm. powder which contains about 5-70% BaO, about 5-40% CuO and about 15-60% SiO2 in a molten state, has about 0.8-3.0 basicity and contains <=5% inevitable impurities such as Al2O3, TiO2, etc. in addition to said components is used. The additive is maintained within an adequate viscosity range between 1,200-1,400 deg.C at which the additive is actually used. The softening point and solidifying point are decreased by about 200- 300 deg.C, by which the vitrifying power is improved. The main components may be added with <=20% Na2O+K2O and <=20% fluoride. |
