PURPOSE:To always control the EGR of an engine with a high degree of accuracy, by measuring the temperature of exhaust gas passing through an EGR valve, and as well by compensating the opening degree of the EGR valve so that the mass flow of exhaust gas in such a temperature condition is made equal to the mass flow in the standard temperature condition. CONSTITUTION:A computer 12 adjusts the opening degree of an EGR valve 10 in accordance with the running condition (air volume, fuel supply amount, etc.) of the engine which is detected by an air-flow sensor 3, an injector 5, etc. so that the volumetric flow of exhaust gas is controlled. In this case, in order to precisely compensate the flow of exhaust gas in accordance with variations in the temperature of exhaust gas the temperature of exhaust gas which is detected by an exhaust gas temperature sensor 11 is delivered to the computer 12, and the conversion coefficient of the volumetric flow with respect to the temperature variations when the mass flow is made constant, is obtained. Then, volumetric flow at the standard temperature is delivered to the computer to obtain the volumetric flow multiplied by the conversion coefficient, and the opening degree of the EGR valve 10 is compensated. |
