PURPOSE:To clean up a fixing roll all the time through the operation of a cleaning member provided on the internal surface of a curtain member by covering the fixing roll with a cover in an electrophotographic copying machine, etc. CONSTITUTION:A fixing device consists of the fixing roll 5, a pressure roll 6, a cover member 7 which covers the surface of the fixing roll 5, and a curtain member 8. A copying form 16 having an unfixed toner image is conveyed to pass between the fixing roll 5 and pressure roll 6, and the unfixed toner is fused to flow in the fiber of the copying form 16, and cooling is performed to attain fixation. At this time, no suspended toner sticks to the surface of the fixing roll 5 through the operations of the cover member 7 and curtain member 8, and even if the toner sticks slightly to the surface, the fixing roll 5 is cleaned up all the time with the cleaning member 17 provided onto the internal surface of the curtain member 8. |
