PURPOSE:To recover efficiently and sanitarily the residual toner and carriers on a recording medium without increasing the size of a cleaning device by allowing a metallic roller impressed with a specific voltage to rotate in contact with the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:When toner and carriers stick to the surface of a photosensitive body 1 which is charged negative electrostatically, the high DC voltage having the (-) polarity opposite to the (+) polarity that the toner and carriers 13 have is impressed to the metallic roller 10 to attract the toner and carriers 13 on the photosensitive body surface to the metallic roller 13, and no toner remains on the surface of the photosensitive body 1. The toner attracted to the roller 10, and the like, are brushed off by a metallic brush 12. In this case, the metallic roller 10 may be rotated in either the same direction with nor the opposite direction to the photosensitive body 1. A corotron 14 impressed with a positive voltage is arranged in front of the metallic roller 10, and the surface of the metallic roller 10 is given 5-10mum ruggedness to further improve the cleanability. |
