PURPOSE:To exchange a mandrel quickly and to reduce the whole length of a press by forming a mandrel loader and a billet loader into a single unit and moving the mandrel to the center line as well as in the axial direction. CONSTITUTION:When a mandrel 15 is mounted on a mandrel holder 16 in a cross head 18, a mandrel loader 24 is positioned between an end-platen 12 part and a container holder 11 in an insertable state. A new mandrel 15 mounted on the mandrel loader 24 is moved to the machine center line by opening a container locking device and retreating a container shifting rod 29. The mandrel loader 24 is advanced by a pressing lever 26, and the 1st several threads of the mandrel 15 are screwed into the threaded inside of mandrel holder 16 by hand. Next, the mandrel 15 is fixed by hand and a spanner, and is screwed into the holder 16 by rotating the holder 16 by a mandrel rotating machanism, to finish an attachment operation. |
