PURPOSE:To unnecessitate a surplus electric current and reduce the amount of heat generated by a motor or the like, by enabling to vary an electric current set point in accordance with operation following-up conditions of a spacing motor. CONSTITUTION:When a power source for a printer is thrown in, an initial setting part for a space-controlling part 11 is started, and an electric current designating counter is set to 0. Based on the content of the counter, a signal for turning ON only a switch S0 in analog switches 9 is outputted to designate an electric current, whereby a type head 3 is moved to a home position set at the left end. Based on whether or not the arrival of the head 3 is detected by a left-end sensor 2 in a predetermined period of time, it is discriminated whether or not an initial operation was normal. If the head 3 is not returned to the home position, the counter is operated to count up, and the initial operation is repeated with a higher current value. After a normal operation is confirmed, the electric current set point is set at the set point at the time of a normal initial operation or a current value higher than the set point by 1-2 levels. Then, other general logic initializing is performed. |
