The furnace, for the manufacture of carbon-containing mouldings, is equipped with tubular pulse burners with at least one nozzle opening. The furnace is controlled with a pulse frequency of 120-150. By avoiding temperature peaks, the furnace can be operated favourably in terms of energy and the wall structure of the fire shafts can be extensively protected. There is also a more uniform temperature distribution inside a cassette length of the fire shafts.
